Historical Context:
The Cucuteni–Trypillia culture (Romanian: Cultura Cucuteni and Ukrainian: Трипільська культура), is a Neolithic–Eneolithic archaeological culture (c. 5500 to 2750 BCE) of Eastern Europe. This culture extended from the Carpathian Mountains to the Dniester and Dnieper regions, on modern-day Ukraine, Moldova and northeastern Romania.
During its middle phase (c. 4000 to 3500 BCE), the Cucuteni–Trypillia culture built some of the largest settlements in Neolithic Europe, housing up to 46,000 people. One notable aspect of this culture was the periodic destruction and reconstruction of settlements, preserving the orientation and shape of older buildings over many generations.

Ochre in the Prehistoric World:
Ochre, used by various prehistoric civilizations for over 300,000 years, has been found in significant deposits, such as the Blombos Cave in South Africa (75,000 years ago) and the Red Lady of Paviland burial in Wales (33,000 years ago). In prehistoric Europe, ochre was used extensively in cave paintings and burials, symbolizing life, death, and possibly ritual rebirth.
