About Us

Family-Run Historical Art Studio in Calgary

Algizrune Art is a small, family-run historical art studio based in Calgary. Our work focuses on handmade Viking jewelry, Celtic amulets, and authentic Norse-style artifacts inspired by the cultures of ancient Europe. We create designs that reflect centuries of craftsmanship and symbolism -  from the Viking Age to early Slavic and Celtic traditions.

Our studio works in partnership with skilled artisans from Ukraine, who help transform our ideas into physical art. This collaboration allows us to combine research, creativity, and traditional craftsmanship in every piece we make. Many of our items are based on archaeological finds, museum collections, and ancient Norse and Celtic motifs.

Handmade with Heart

Our designs are created in-house and then crafted by skilled artisans from Ukraine. Each item combines accurate historical references with thoughtful craftsmanship, supporting local artisans and preserving traditional techniques.

What We Offer

From intricately carved Viking amulets to faithful replicas of ancient artifacts, our collection is made for anyone who loves history, myth, and beautiful handmade objects. Each piece is a bridge to the past—a perfect addition to your personal collection or a meaningful gift for someone special.

We invite you to explore our collection online or meet us at local farmers’ markets. See the craftsmanship firsthand, learn about the traditions behind the designs, and support artisans keeping these skills alive.

Connect with Us

At Algizrune Art, we focus on making historical art you can actually hold, display, and enjoy. Our goal is to connect people with the past through handmade replicas and inspired pieces, celebrating the rich heritage of ancient cultures with every creation.

Viking, or Norse, art is full of intricate, captivating designs. The Vikings had a talent for turning everyday materials like bone and wood into detailed carvings, often featuring animals and mythical creatures. They were also skilled metalworkers, crafting beautiful jewelry and ornaments in bronze and silver.

Norse art has roots that go far back—even to prehistoric Europe around the 6th–5th millennium BC. Back then, snakes and serpents were more than just animals—they were symbols of protection and companions of the Mother Goddess, the first deity worshipped by early European farmers.

We approach our work as researchers and makers. Through experimental archaeology, we explore how ancient artifacts were made, learning techniques and technologies the Vikings used. This knowledge guides our creations, helping us craft authentic Viking-style pieces while also allowing us to design original, contemporary works inspired by these traditions.

Here's what our customers say

The friendly service was like catching up with old friends! The quality in your goods was top notch and overall, I enjoyed the what seemed like an hour, but was most likely at least 20 to 30 min looking & learning about your products! I'm from Ontario, so I will add this extra market to my list of reasons to come to Calgary and definitely make room for "bring backs"! Thanks 😊.”

The Spirit of Algizrune Art

Here at Algizrune Art, everything you see is made by hand — carved, cast, and shaped the old way.
We work with brass, bone, and wood, just like the Viking, Celtic, and Slavic craftsmen once did.

Each piece has a story — drawn from real artifacts, old legends, and museum collections.
There’s no mass production here, only skill, patience, and respect for history.

This is our way to keep the past alive — turning ancient art into something you can wear and feel every day.
