Hand-Carved Lewis Chessmen Pawn – Moose Antler Historical Replica
Hand-carved pawn inspired by 12th–13th century Lewis Chessmen, crafted from moose antler.
$49.00
This hand-carved pawn is based on the famous Lewis Chessmen, a medieval chess set dating to the 12th–13th century. Crafted from naturally shed moose antler, it reflects the shape, texture, and clean lines seen in the original artifacts discovered in 1831 on the Isle of Lewis.
Measuring 6 cm (2.36 inches) in height, the pawn maintains the compact proportions typical of historical examples. Each piece is carved by hand at the Algizrune Workshop using traditional tools, resulting in minor variations that highlight the natural qualities of the material.
The Lewis Chessmen are displayed today in major museums and remain an important reference for understanding medieval Norse-influenced craftsmanship. This replica is suitable for individual collecting, display, or as part of a handmade historical chess set. Custom orders for additional pieces or full sets are available.
