Viking Shield Pendant with Green Enamel in Brass
Hand-cast Viking shield pendant with runes and green hot enamel, inspired by early medieval Scandinavian
$49.00
This Viking shield pendant is inspired by early medieval round shields used across Scandinavia during the Viking Age. Shields were central objects in daily life, travel, and warfare, and their circular form became a lasting visual motif in Norse material culture.
The pendant is hand-cast in solid brass using the traditional beeswax (lost-wax) casting method. After casting, the surface is carefully finished by hand, and green hot enamel is applied into four separate sections. Each section is marked with runes, echoing the way symbols were often arranged around circular objects in early Scandinavian art.
Hot enamel is fused at high temperature, creating a durable, glass-like surface that becomes part of the metal itself rather than a surface coating. The green tone adds depth and contrast while keeping the design restrained and historically grounded.
Every pendant shows small differences in enamel flow and surface texture, which are natural results of hand casting and hot enameling.
