This pendant is inspired by Viking Age round shields and decorated with runes placed in four enamelled sections. Such shield motifs appear widely in Scandinavian material culture and were associated with protection, movement, and readiness.
The pendant is hand-cast in pewter using the traditional beeswax method. Turquoise hot enamel is applied by hand and fired at high temperature, forming a strong, glass-like surface fused directly to the metal.
The turquoise color adds a distinct but restrained accent, while the pewter base keeps the overall appearance muted and historically appropriate. The layout of the runes and enamel follows a balanced, symmetrical arrangement rather than decorative excess.
Each pendant shows natural variation created during casting and hot enameling, reflecting the handmade nature of the piece.
