Viking / Slavic Lunula Pendant with Red and Yellow Enamel in Brass

Early medieval crescent pendant hand-cast in brass with hot enamel using traditional techniques.

$38.00

This Lunula pendant is inspired by early medieval crescent-shaped jewelry worn across Slavic and Viking regions from roughly the 10th to 12th century. Lunula pendants were among the most common personal ornaments of the period, recognizable by their open crescent form and restrained proportions.

The pendant is cast by hand in solid brass using the traditional beeswax (lost-wax) method. After casting, red and yellow hot enamel is carefully applied into individual sections and fired at high temperature. This traditional enameling process creates a durable, glass-like surface that becomes part of the metal rather than sitting on top of it.

The color arrangement reflects historical enamel use seen on early medieval jewelry, where strong but limited color palettes were preferred. The brass frame remains visible between enamel sections, giving the piece structure and balance.

Each pendant is finished by hand. Small differences in enamel depth, texture, and color flow are natural and expected, making every piece slightly different while staying true to the original form.

The pendant comes ready to wear on an adjustable black waxed cotton cord.
