Viking / Slavic Lunula Pendant with Yellow & Green Enamel in Brass
Early medieval crescent pendant hand-cast in brass with segmented hot enamel.
$38.00
This Lunula pendant follows early medieval crescent designs known from Slavic and Viking territories dating to the 10th–12th century. Crescent pendants of this type were among the most widespread personal ornaments of the period and appear frequently in archaeological material.
The pendant is cast by hand in solid brass using the traditional beeswax casting method. After casting, yellow and green enamel is carefully applied into separate sections and fired at high temperature. This hot enamel technique permanently fuses the enamel to the metal, creating a durable finish with a natural glass-like surface.
The segmented enamel layout adds structure and visual rhythm while remaining faithful to early medieval aesthetics. Each pendant is finished by hand, resulting in subtle variations that reflect traditional craftsmanship rather than mass production.
The pendant comes ready to wear on an adjustable waxed cotton cord.
