Viking / Slavic Openwork Shield Pendant – Handmade in Silver

This pendant is a faithful recreation of early medieval round shield motifs found across Viking and Slavic regions during the 9th–10th centuries. The design mirrors openwork bronze originals and has been cast and finished in silver for a refined, durable modern interpretation.

The pendant’s geometric pattern reflects styles common in Norse and Eastern European metalwork, where shields, circular forms, and divided layouts appeared frequently. Some researchers associate this type of pendant with early Christian cross motifs, while others view it as a stylized representation of a Viking round shield, a key protective object for warriors of the time. This replica follows the shield-based interpretation.

Made by hand using traditional casting techniques, each piece shows slight natural variations. At 40 mm (1.57 inches) and approximately 5 g, the pendant is lightweight and comfortable for everyday wear.
